Bertrand passed away peacefully in Montreal after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by his devoted sons, Pierre and Jean Fran\u00e7ois. Bertrand was the loving husband of Rita B\u00e9langer (deceased).<\/p>\n
Son of the late Philippe and Mathilde Dallaire,<\/p>\n
Bertrand was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses:\u00a0 Ren\u00e9 (Marie-Paule Boucher), Pierrette (G\u00e9rard Bouchard), L\u00e9opold (Yvette Lavoie), Jeanne d’Arc (Laurent Martin), Conrad (H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Gauthier), \u00c9velyne (Charles Belley), Th\u00e9r\u00e8se (R\u00e9al Dubois), Fernand (Marie Boily), Yvette and Gaston.<\/p>\n
Bertrand is survived by his sons, Pierre (C\u00e9cile) and Jean Fran\u00e7ois, as well as his sister, Jeannette (Laurier Gilbert), Maude Tremblay (wife of Gaston). Along with nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends.<\/p>\n
A special thank you to Debrah and her husband, Rick for all the love and support that they gave to our father over the past 30 years. As well to Reverend Jan Jorgensen for being present in his life when he most needed her council. And for being there to give him a beautiful send off.<\/p>\n
Bertrand graduated from University of Montreal in civil and nuclear engineering. He led an adventurous life, travelling the world to work on major engineering projects in many countries including Canada, Iran, Poland, Germany, Cyprus, Africa and California, where he worked for the American National Defence.<\/p>\n
His career culminated with the construction of the world’s longest bridge (at the time) in South Korea.<\/p>\n
He was a lifelong learner who spoke seven languages, renovated many of his homes, created stained glass and studied acrylic painting.<\/p>\n
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Alfred Desrochers Residence for their compassionate care of Bertrand.<\/p>\n
My father’s burial will take place on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ste-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Cemetery, 30 Coursol Street, St-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se, QC. Family and friends are welcome. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n The celebration of life will take place the following week, on May 17, 2025, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., at Kensinton Presbyterian Church, 6225 Godfrey Avenue, Montreal, QC.
